supposedly Dylan had a Gospel-type thing going that people were turned off by. Let's face it, Aerosmith took a dumper when they put out all those weak power ballads that sounded the same and had Alicia Silverstone in the vidoes. Not the same guys who could tear the roof off the place in the old days. I guess the same could be said for ZZ Top once they had a few hits under their beots

I have to agree about Aerosmith, in the 70's they were a pretty rockin band that put out some very interesting stuff, however, since the mid 80's it's just been the same old tired formulaic rock ballad boring thing. Same for ZZ Top, great stuff in the first 4 or 5 albums then just hit the crapper when they strayed from the 3-chord Texas Honky Tonk Blues that served them so well. I read an interview with Billy Gibbons where he, very candidly, I thought, said that their downfall was learning that 4th chord!!! LOL
